Spirulina Protein Balls

Spirulina – what an awesome foodstuff, not only does this blue-green algae give food a crazy deep green colour, it also provides you with a great source of essential amino acids (protein) and minerals.  These balls are great as a little mid-afternoon or post-workout snack.

Instructions
  1. Blitz the figs in a blender with the water and orange juice and transfer to a bowl
  2. Next pulse all the nuts, seeds and orange zest until you have a rough texture
  3. Then add the spirulina and half the melted coconut oil and pulse until mixed
  4. Finally add the remaining half of the oil and the fig paste and mix again
  5. Take a small amount of the mixture and roll into small balls and put in the fridge to set for 20-30 mins (use a bit of coconut oil on your hands to stop the mixture sticking)
  6. Keep in an airtight container in the week for about a week
